Renewable energy sources are all around us, and about 80% of the global population live in countries that are net importers of fossil fuels -- that’s about 6 billion people are dependent. on fossil fuels from other countries, making them vulnerable to geopolitical shocks and crises. Somalia and East Africa are no exception: thus, Greensom’s vision is to make Somalia an energy-self-sufficient country. Renewable energy sources are available all over Somalia, and their potential is yet to be harnessed. We believe that 90% of the Somali’s electricity can and should come from renewable energy.
